Every year, around mid-to-late August, there comes a time where us hockey fans begin to get antsy and physically cannot wait any longer for the hockey season to start. For Isles fans, some good news came on Friday morning. Training camp has officially begun! This means that hockey is right around the corner!

The Islanders players seemed eager and excited to get back on the ice this Friday and all had big smiles on their faces. For forward Anthony Beauvillier, he could already see a change in the way the Islanders were responding to new full-time head coach, Doug Weight: “Dougie wants to win. He’s so passionate about what he’s doing and you can feel the energy. It’s good motivation for us.”

It was great to finally see newest Islander Jordan Eberle playing with the team. After practice, he said: “It was a good day one. I felt good out there. You just want to find yourself and find your game early.” He and longtime friend John Tavares were linemates during the first practice session, along with Anders Lee, as the three hope to build chemistry together as soon as possible. “Chemistry it really important, i think, but things can change quickly during camp,” Jordan said of his new partners.

The Islanders will open up the preseason this Sunday at 1pm ET against the Philadelphia Flyers. The game will be played at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the place the Isles used to call home. The Islanders expect the place to be rocking, and for veterans like Cal Clutterbuck, they want to be a part of the fun:
