Raiders Again Win in Tennessee 26-16

Once again, the Oakland Raiders have taken a close game in Tennessee. For the third year in a row, Derek Carr has engineered a win at Nissan Stadium.

The Titans tried to catch Oakland sleeping on the opening kickoff, as Head Coach Mike Mularkey attempted an unsuccessful onside kick. This gave Oakland great field position, and they made use of it with a quick drive capped by an Amari Cooper touchdown pass.

Tennessee would respond, as QB Marcus Mariota drove his team down the field, eventually running it in himself from 15 yards out, to tie the game 7-7. Newest Raider Giorgio Tavecchio would nail two field goals, along with one from Ryan Succop, and the Raiders went to the locker room up 13-10.

After the teams traded field goals, Carr found Seth Roberts in the endzone from 19 yards out, to make it 23-13 Raiders. Tavecchio would hit another field goal, and after Succop matched him the scoring was over. Raiders win 26-16, and start the season on the right foot.

Ballers

Derek Carr. Carr will be on this list a lot. Carr went 22/32, with 262 yards and 2 TD’s. The Raiders’ most important player was nearly flawless today, and he orchestrated another win.

Giorgio Tavecchio. After waiting six years to finally work his way into an NFL roster, Tavecchio made the most of his debut today, going 4/4 with 2 extra points, not to mention making it from 52 yards out twice. If he keeps playing like this, he’s going to force the Raiders’ hand on a Sebastian Janikowski decision.

The Raiders Defense. We’ve waited so long to see improvement from this unit, and we finally saw some today. The first few drives were abysmal, but as the game went on, our defense began to stifle the Titans electric QB. Some key defensive stops helped win this game.

Whats Next?

The Raiders will head back home next week and prepare for the New York Jets to come to town. This isn’t the best Jets team we’ve seen in recent years, but you should never overlook an opponent and i’m sure Jack Del Rio won’t let that happen. Oakland should get a win here, and start 2-0. Go Raiders!
