Kansas Jayhawks (2-3) @ #9 West Virginia Mountaineers (4-0)
Kansas is a bad football team and they are not getting any better. West Virginia is a great football team. After beating Texas Tech last week, Will Grier and the Mountaineers have proved that they are a top-tier football team in the nation. The match up of one of the best teams in the country at home versus one of the worst teams in the nation will likely end very lop-sided. While Kansas did manage to put up 28 points on Oklahoma St. defense, West Virginia’s defense will be a lot better, and Kansas will have to come out with a completely new attitude if they want a chance. Also Morgantown, West Virginia is one of the toughest places to play, so Kansas will have that obstacle as well as all the other obstacles that the Jayhawks have.
Prediction- West Virginia- 42, Kansas- 17
#19 Texas Longhorns (4-1) vs. #7 Oklahoma Sooners (5-0) Neutral Site- Cotton Bowl- Dallas, Texas
The Red River Showdown is one of the best rivalries in not just college football, but in all of sports. Every year, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns meet at the Texas State Fair in Dallas, and play at the Cotton Bowl. It is one of the best sports atmospheres ever. No matter how bad one of the teams is, it always ends up being a close game. This year both Texas and Oklahoma are good teams. Texas is 4-1 with a weird loss to Maryland in week 1, but then beat Tulsa, USC (ranked at the time), and TCU (ranked at the time). Oklahoma is undefeated and is being led by Heisman favorite, Kyler Murray. This game is going to be very fun, and I dont see it being a blowout. Texas will snap a 2 year losing streak and beat the Sooners in a close game.
Prediction- Texas- 31 Oklahoma- 27
Kansas St. Wildcats (2-3) @ Baylor Bears (3-2)
Baylor got smoked by Oklahoma last week badly, and Kyler Murray threw for 7 touchdowns on Baylor’s defense. Baylor put up good points, putting 33 on the Sooners. I still think the Bears are a young, improving team, so I dont expect a ton from them this year. Baylor’s offense is exciting and could be pretty good, but will have a test in the Kansas State defense. The Wildcats lost a tough fought game to the Longhorns, limiting them to 19 points. There offense did not look good at all. They put up 14 points which is not ever going to win games in the Big 12. Baylor fans are loud at McLlane stadium, making it a tough place to play. The Bears defense will step up and beat up the Wildcat defense.
Baylor- 28 Kansas State- 17
Iowa State Cyclones (1-3) @ #25 Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-1)
It looks like Oklahoma State might have a pretty good team. Justice Hill is carrying the offense through the first 5 weeks of the season. I dont think he will be able to take them through the entire season. The Cowboys have had a fairly simple schedule so far to start the season. They did beat (at the time ranked) Boise St., but then lost to Texas Tech the next week. Iowa State is a team that has had a tough start to the season, but they are a tough team who will be able to keep their games close. They have had a difficult schedule to start their season, playing Oklahoma and TCU, losing to both. They played a very good game against TCU but were not able to finish, losing 17-14. Although Oklahoma St. is at ranked and playing at home, Iowa St. will get the upset in a hard fought win
