2017/18 Premier League Preview: Manchester United

With Manchester United finishing 6th last season, they look to bounce back with at least a top 5 finish this year. Their first game is against West Ham, who finished 11th last season. Even though West Ham didn’t finish in the top 10 last year, they are still very tough to win against.

New signing Romelu Lukaku is hoping to have a big impact this year, just as he did with his old club, Everton. The Belgian International came over from Everton for an astounding £75,000,000.

Another enormous signing for Manchester United is 29 Year Old Nemanja Matic. The Serbian international played for Chelsea from 2014 to 2017. He is looking for a new start at Manchester United, and José Mourinho has promised him he will get more playing time than he did last year at Chelsea.

With one of the best defenses last season, and having David De Gea, one of the best goalkeepers in the entire Premier League, it will be very hard to score on them.

Manchester United has one of the most expensive midfields around, costing over £500 million to produce. They will have high expectations coming into this year, and hopefully for José Mourinho, they will meet them.

Attacking-wise, United are absolutely loaded. They have attacking options such as Romelu Lukaku, the youngster Marcus Rashford, Henrik Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, and Jesse Lingard. With United only averaging 1.4 goals per game last season, Mourinho wants it to be ” At least 2 goals per game”.

I predict Manchester United finishing 4th in the Premier League. With teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, rivals Manchester City, and Tottenham in the league, they have a better chance than United. They have enough keys to win the title, but they do not have enough depth on their bench to win efficiently like they have been in the last decade. They need another year to have another big signing and finally secure themselves a Premier League title.
